The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to recruit a Graphic Designer for a six month temporary contract, with a possibility of an extension.About the roleThe Strategic Communication section provides a range of expertise to ensure the high quality of the ABS’ internal and external communication. As part of the Strategic Communication team, the Creative Studio helps develop engaging and informative communication approaches. The Studio provides design and production expertise across video, photography, audio, animation, branding and visual design. Our Graphic Designers work on materials such as letters, factsheets, brochures, infographics, social media tiles, website graphics, merchandise, display material, recruitment advertising and staff training manuals. Key aspects of the role will include:the design and delivery of a range of materials for communication and operational purposescollecting design requirements and coordinating client feedback to deliver work that meets the requirements within the timeframecoordination of work coming into the studio and ensuring it is delivered on time and to requirementsmanaging competing priorities, including proactive and reactive work effectively. What we are looking for (selection criteria)The preferred candidates would have demonstrated experience in the following:tertiary qualifications in graphic design and extensive skills and significant experience in graphic design (two years industry experience)excellent technical and practical understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and Microsoft Word and PowerPointstrong interpersonal communication skills, including engaging and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders and suppliersestablished work management practices to prioritise workloads and undertake quality assurance processes to ensure delivery of high quality materials within tight timeframes.
