Graphic / Industrial Designer

Salary: $70,000 plus super

Position Summary

Operating for 28 years with offices around the globe, our company is a leading homewares supplier of major retailers operating in Australia, the UK and USA.

This position offers the right person a fantastic opportunity to design products and packaging artwork for an extensive range of homewares including Ceramics, Bakeware, Cookware, Health & Wellness and Entertaining following every day and seasonal trends.

We are looking for a passionate designer who thrives in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years experience working in a fast-paced and collaborative work environment.

Working within a sales and marketing team and reporting directly to the category manager, the successful applicant will be joining our close-knit team and will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects including creative brand development, product design, packaging artwork, client presentations and trend development.

Your portfolio should showcase your talent with surface pattern and print design, trend interpretation and show how you bring fresh new ideas to the market!

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Independently interpret design briefs, create product designs and packaging objectives from clients and marketing teams
• Design products, decal artwork and packaging artwork for an extensive range of homewares
• Create Presentations featuring product and packaging mockups for our core retail partners
• Photo retouching and digital editing
• Maintain awareness of core client product offerings and related product trends and contribute to product development &design
• Development of drawings, logos and vectors

Preferred Experience

Ideally, you have previous work experience that includes the following:

• Previous work in a fast-paced team environment focused on delivering graphic files, product collections, artwork and presentations
• Proofing artwork, managing workflow and communicating revisions accurately and efficiently directly to suppliers
• Executing client requirements and prioritising workflow
• Some familiarity with designing retail packaging such as colour boxes, sleeves and swing tags
• Have some understanding of creating and working with die-lines and a basic knowledge of print production
• Knowledge of product and packaging merchandising
• Understanding of developing product concepts for manufacturing
• Previous work developing product print graphics and illustration

Skills and Attributes

• Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design & Acrobat)
• Intermediate product packaging layout experience
• Some knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Bachelor of Graphic Design, Industrial Design or equivalent
• Flexible creative thinking approach to successfully complete design briefs
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to be highly organised and multi-task
• Confidence and ability to work to fast and unpredictable deadlines
