Surrounded by the Hunter Valley Golf Course, Rydges Resort Hunter Valley is seeking a full-time Greenkeeper to join our hotel Greenkeeping team.
About the role
In this role, reports to the Course Assistant Superintendent. You will assist with maintaining and developing our golf to our already very high standard, as part of the Greenkeeping team. This includes mowing greens and fairways etc, use of appropriate chemicals, irrigation maintenance and general course maintenance; as well as operating and maintaining tools, equipment and machinery.
Skills and experience
The successful candidate will ideally have demonstrated experience and knowledge in fine turf management and proficient in the use of a wide range of plant and equipment required to carry out tasks associated with course maintenance including:
- Mowing, rolling, topdressing, bunker maintenance, fertilising and spraying turf.
- Operating and maintaining equipment such as mowers, aerators, cultivators, corers, sprayers, tractors, and attachments
- Irrigation system maintenance and repair
- Relevant greenkeeping experience and/or qualifications
- Unrestricted Driver’s Licence
- Be skilled at and enjoy maintaining a golf course to a consistently high standard
- Certificate 3 in Horticulture – Sports Turf Management
- Experience with irrigation and minor repairs desirable
- AQF3 chemical accreditation/ license desirable but not essential
- Experience and knowledge of chemical and fertilizer application
- Will be required to work weekends on a rotating roster whilst working in a great team environment
- Strong team player, able to work safely, independently, make decisions and show initiative
- Be self-motivated and punctual
- Good communication skills and an eye for detail
- Professional approach and positive attitude and work ethic
- Ability to follow systems, procedures & safety standards
- Ability to perform at a medium-high level of physical requirement
- This is a physically demanding position involving the operation of tools and machinery
- Must have the legal right to work in Australia no sponsorships will be offered
