North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands and a bustling CBD.
An opportunity exists within our pivotal Sportsfields team for an experienced greenkeeper. The Sportsfields team are responsible for preparation and maintenance of North Sydney Oval and surrounding specialised sportsfields in the North Sydney Council Local Government area. This includes Bon Andrews cricket facility that hosts first class cricket training, including CNSW, Sydney Sixes and the Australian test team Spin Camp in 2023. We also maintain Tunks park which has won ground of the year in Sydney grade cricket in 17 out of the last 23 seasons.
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person to join a team on the way up, and breaking traditional turf management procedures and boundaries.
The Greenkeeper duties will include but not limited to field and wicket preparation for both cricket and all winter sports, pest, weed, and disease identification, turf renovation practices, irrigation, and machinery operation.
Due to the Events based nature of our work the successful applicant may be required to work some weekends and evenings at major sporting and other related events. We also practice a flexible working environment which allows staff to have a better work life balance.
Essential
- Greenkeeping Trade Certificate or equivalent
- Driver's Licence
- Machinery operation skills
- Extensive knowledge of current greenkeeping practices, associated skills and experience
- Experience in Turf Wicket preparation and maintenance
- Enthusiasm and ability to work with in a team environment
Desirable
- 5 years’ experience in the industry
- Experience in a range of different environments throughout the turf industry
- MR licence
- Machinery operation certificates
- Sound oral and written communication skills
- Understanding of basic Horticultural principles
- First Aid Certificate

Salary Range: $69,514 to $82,820 per annum (incl. allowance) + 11% super + $1,000 pa transport allowance + Uniform Provided - 76 hours per fortnight with a rostered day offHow to apply
