Form of workThe Gawler River Floodplain Management Authority (GRFMA) invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals with relevant experience to undertake the role of Chairperson of the Board of Management.
The GRFMA was formed as a Regional Subsidiary under Section 43 and Schedule 2 of the Local Government Act 1999 on 22 August 2002. The constituent councils are the Adelaide Hills Council, The Adelaide Plains Council, The Barossa Council, The Town of Gawler, Light Regional Council, and the City of Playford. The Authority has been established for the purpose of coordinating the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of flood mitigation infrastructure for the Gawler River.
The Chairperson is an independent member and therefore cannot be an officer, employee or member of a constituent council.
To be successful you will have well-established networks within local, state and federal government with a demonstrated ability to influence decisions of governments and stakeholders, political astuteness, knowledge and understanding of local government operations and an awareness and appreciation of flood mitigation.
The GRFMA in partnership with Department for Environment and Water (DEW), have now completed delivery of the Business Case to identify a shared vision and objectives to improve flood management in the Gawler River region. Funding and delivery of flood mitigation projects identified in the Business Case will be high priority for the Authority.
The appointment is for a three-year term and will commence following confirmation of appointment by constituent councils, indicatively 1st May 2024.
