Year program provides young Australians who meet general entry requirements an opportunity to broaden their life experience with only a year commitment. The program offers a 'try before you buy' experience of Air Force training and lifestyle for young men and women, without any obligation to serve beyond the program period. Air Force Ground Crew are responsible for the movement of personnel and material to support Australian Defence Force activities, operations, and exercises.
You will undertake a range of tasks, including but not limited to: Air terminal operations involving the movement of passengers and cargo on and off Air Force aircraft or foreign military aircraft visiting Australia. Operating forklifts to load and unload vehicles and aircraft. Despatching service vehicles.
Assisting with driver training and testing. You will work in varying environmental conditions, often working outdoors in all weather conditions and be exposed to aircraft, machinery and equipment noise, and aircraft fumes when loading and unloading aircraft. Ground Crew are frequently required to work shift work as Air Force and visiting aircraft often arrive and depart out of hours.
