Ground Handling Agents – Aviation

National Jet Express acts as a critical link in the energy and resources sector, providing fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) services in support of mining, oil, and gas projects throughout Australia. We provide flexible charter flights with a full range of service options to Australia’s city centres and regional destinations. We have been investing in the future of FIFO by progressively renewing our fleet with modern aircraft that provide greater flexibility of rosters, suitability for regional aerodromes, increased reliability, and low carbon emissions.

We are currently taking expressions of interest for the position of Ground Handling Agent. This role will take place at the airport, with primary responsibility to ensure efficient and smooth operations on the ground to facilitate the safe and timely departure and arrival of aircraft. The position will operate under the supervision of the Ramp Supervisor on a part-time or casual basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Holds Safety as a core value and contributes to the achievement of a Zero Harm and an incident/injury-free environment through active participation in all safety programs relevant to their position
• Perform various aircraft handling tasks, including marshaling, towing, parking, and guiding aircraft to and from the bays or designated areas. 
• Ensure the safe movement of aircraft on the ground and coordinate with pilots and air traffic control as required.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of baggage and cargo onto and from the aircraft. 
• Ensure proper handling, sorting, and delivery of baggage to the designated areas while adhering to safety and security procedures.
• Provide assistance to passengers during boarding and disembarkation, including wheelchair assistance, if required. 
• Ensure a smooth flow of passengers through the terminal and assist with their queries or concerns.
• Support ramp operations, such as the positioning of ground support equipment, waste cart, and potable water activities. 
• Perform basic aircraft cleaning duties, including cabin cleaning, waste disposal, and replenishing supplies. 
• Maintain cleanliness standards and adhere to established procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of activities, such as aircraft movements, baggage handling, and fuelling.  
• Report any irregularities, incidents, or damages promptly to the relevant authorities.
• Adhere to safety regulations, security protocols, and airport policies at all times. 
• Report any security concerns or breaches to the appropriate personnel and participate in safety training programs.
• Operate and maintain Ground Handling equipment, such as tugs, loaders, and belt loaders. 
• Conduct routine inspections, report any malfunctions, and ensure proper functioning of the equipment.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, pilots, and other airport personnel to ensure efficient operations.

Job Requirement 

• Hold or be able to obtain Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC)
• Hold or be able to obtain a forklift licence 
• Hold or be able to obtain a Dangerous Goods acceptance certificate 
• Ability to hold a relevant airport authority to drive airside license.
• High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Prior experience in Ground Handling, aviation, or related fields is preferred.
• Knowledge of airport operations, safety procedures, and regulations.
• Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and work in outdoor environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and customer-oriented environment.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with computer systems and basic software applications.
