School Profile
Park Ridge Primary School is located in the North-Eastern Victoria Region, Outer Eastern Melbourne Area. The school is situated on a 3.6-hectare site on the south-eastern border of the City of Knox, within the suburb of Rowville.

The School currently has an enrolment of 547 students, with 13 percent classified as EAL (English as an Additional Language), 13 percent receiving Equity Funding and 1 percent from ATSI (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) backgrounds. The population of our school reflects a Student Family Occupation and Education (SFOE) index of 0.3154.

The school facilities include 18 permanent and 10 portable classrooms, an art room, gymnasium, library, science room and music room. The school¿s multi-purpose centre is used during school hours for assemblies, incursions and specialist classes and houses an accredited out of school hours care program. The school grounds include surfaced playing areas as well as large grassed areas and three playgrounds for student recreational and sporting activities.

The 2024 school staffing profile comprised of 35 teachers including a Principal and two Assistant Principals. Educational Support Staff members included four administration staff, and eleven integration aides.

The school curriculum reflected the Victorian Curriculum framework, with specialist programs in Music, Art, Physical Education, LOTE (Indonesian) and Science across the school. An Intervention program is provided across the school with parent volunteers providing additional support in all year levels.

Selection Criteria

SC1    Ability to carry out a physical role with demonstrated ability to proactively undertake a range of school building and grounds maintenance duties.

Role

Building Maintenance:

  • Toilet inspections every morning before school, any graffiti removed immediately, toilet repairs and leaks fixed.
  • Remove signs of graffiti from walls and windows immediately.
  • Committed to the principle of `continuous improvement¿ and be expected to identify and discuss opportunities for improving existing building maintenance processes within the School.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and the capacity to appropriately prioritise tasks.
  • Regularly reviewing the issue tracker and the School proactive maintenance plan ensuring that all parties can track the status of all maintenance requests.
  • Ensure classroom furniture and fittings are in good repair.
  • Perform both major and minor repair work around the building such as repairing locks and installing window blinds. This may involve works undertaken at heights.
  • Maintain the overall condition of all buildings.
  • Perform inspection of the premises and ensure that any hazardous conditions are immediately rectified (make safe).
  • Ensuring that School equipment used in grounds and building maintenance (e.g. tools and equipment) are properly serviced and maintained and documented.
  • Ordering and receiving deliveries of supplies for general maintenance purposes.
  • Moving delivered items to relevant staff areas / classrooms as required.
  • Ensure that the maintenance sheds are always clean and orderly in accordance with OH&S principles.
  • Minor carpentry and brickwork repairs.
  • Construction of internal storage facilities.
  • Maintenance of grounds and garden beds. This shall include weeding, mulching, fertilising, planting out and replacing as necessary and at the correct time.
  • Pruning of all shrubs and trees at the appropriate time.
  • Watering of garden areas.
  • Blower vacuuming of paths and entrances.
  • Apply pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or other chemicals to soil, weeds, plants or other surfaces as required.
  • Clean external basketball court when required.
  • Undertake general duties as directed by the Principal or Assistant Principal.
  • The maintenance person will, at times, be required to undertake other duties related to the role as directed by the Principal/Assistant Principals/Business Manager.
  • Room/Venue Set up ¿ supporting the School Learning and teaching activities and other operations by:
    • Moving furniture and other pieces of equipment, of varying weights, between classrooms and / or storage locations.
    • Assisting in venue set-ups e.g. putting out and stacking chairs for assemblies, moving tables/chairs out of storage and setting up same in the gym or Wentworth building.
Responsibilities
  • The Maintenance person will be responsible for identifying, reviewing, and delivery of facility maintenance, which includes maintenance planning, coordinating maintenance delivery services.  The Maintenance person will perform duties as necessary to insure maintenance of all building systems including preventative maintenance to ensure miminal down time during regular school hours.
  • The Maintenance person will be responsible for assisting with Gardening maintenance tasks as directed by the Pricipal/Assistant Principal.
  • Responsible for maintaining a detailed plan of all maintenance of buildings, to ensure that all areas are maintained regularly. This plan would show weekly, monthly and annual tasks relating to the overall presentation of the School buildings.
  • Attend or access online all mandated professional development as directed by the School.
