Job description

We have a new opportunity to welcome a Vineyard Hand & Groundskeeper into our Clyde Park family. This full-time role would enjoy working both independently and within a team and have a strong passion for viticulture and the appearance of our vineyard and function venues.

Reporting to the Proprietors, this full-time position will be a driving force in the operational delivery of Vineyard Operations, such as pruning, trellis work, weed management, vintage as well as general farm & grounds maintenance. 

As an experienced machinery operator and groundskeeper, you will bring a range of skills and knowledge to efficiently and safely undertake a wide variety of often physically demanding tasks, with professionalism and attention to detail. As the Vineyard and Groundskeeper, you will be allocated a recurring schedule of weekly, monthly and seasonal tasks. Using initiative, and a commonsense approach you will take pride in the maintenance of the Vineyard and surrounds.

Core objectives include: 

  • Groundskeeper duties - garden, lawns & general maintenance
  • Tractor and vineyard machinery operations
  • Grape harvest
  • Pruning & Trellis work
  • Irrigation operation & repairs
  • Spraying programs
  • Pest & disease monitoring
  • General farming duties of fencing repairs, livestock management and vineyard maintenance.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Completion of weekly and monthly works schedules as directed.
  • A sound mechanical aptitude, safely operate and conduct general maintenance of farm and vineyard machinery/equipment.
  • Record keeping and monitoring allocated tasks to ensure accurate and timely advice to Management.

Qualifications & experience

  • Certificate 3 or higher in Horticulture or Production Horticulture or equivalent experience
  • Unrestricted Drivers licence
  • Forklift licence (desirable)
  • Chemical Users Certificate (desirable)
  • Minimum 5 years of genuine Farm / Viticulture / Horticultural experience
  • A reasonable level of mechanical aptitude and experience operating farm machinery safely, conducting basic maintenance and checks
  • Ability to maintain extended periods of physically demanding tasks
  • Knowledge and understanding for caring for and managing livestock
  • Understanding and awareness of monitoring workplace Health & Safety
