The responsibilities of the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Manager will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Coordinate the use and maintenance of school buildings and equipment
- Liaise and negotiate with service providers in respect to the cost and quality of services
- Supervise the delivery of contracted services
- Manage the development and collection of resource material at the school
- Undertake emergency and planned maintenance and repairs
- Maintain and store all equipment, tools and plant in a safe and clean condition
- Arrange for the routine testing and assessment of relevant plant and tools as required to maintain safety
- Participate in any routine essential safety inspections
- Maintain the school grounds to a high standard, including garden beds
- Maintain records of all works undertaken by external tradespersons, such as safety certificates and safe working method statements
- Undertake routine inspections of the school, for the purpose of identifying maintenance priorities for discussion with the Assistant Principal
- Manage heating, cooling and lighting functions of the school
- Participate in routine OH&S inspections for the purpose of understanding tasks required to be undertaken and their priority
- Maintain an awareness of the location of essential services, including water isolation points, fire points, drainage systems etc
- Regularly inspect or arrange the inspection of all pumps/gutters on roofs for blockages and remedying as necessary
- Undertaking routine repairs, cleaning and maintenance of the facilities in consultation with the Assistant Principal
- Attend to small building projects at the direction of the Assistant Principal
- Supporting the school in relocating furniture and equipment as required
- Engaging tradespersons to undertake works as approved by the Assistant Principal and overseeing the completion of their work
- Ensuring that induction and attendance processes are followed for any tradespersons engaged at the school
- Follow school processes for incurring expenditure for matters related to the role
- Meet with the Assistant Principal to confirm required tasks to be undertaken
- Other relevant duties as directed by the Assistant Principal
- Abiliity to manage the School Maintenance System
