Peak Services and Local Buy were created by the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) to provide professional services and products that local governments need, delivered by an expert team that knows and understands the sector well.
Peak Services and Local Buy are commercial profit-for-purpose subsidiaries of the LGAQ and employ approximately 110 staff. Peak Services provides a range of specialist consultancy services including recruitment, training, legal and workforce services and also operates a 24/7 call centre. Local Buy helps meet legislative, reputation and compliance need for clients and simplifies the procurement process by connecting organisations with pre-qualified local Queensland suppliers.
Formed in 1896, the LGAQ is one of the oldest and most stable peak organisations in Australia and is renowned for its innovative and ground-breaking work in a sector that today employs more than 400,000 Queenslanders.
Reporting to an Independent Board, as Group Chief Executive Officer you will lead the transformation of the group to deliver commercial, strategic and operational objectives to achieve growth and success.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development, approval and implementation of strategic and operational plans that reflect strategic and commercial priorities and targets set by the Board
- Lead cohesive and high performing leadership and business teams and role model effective leadership behaviours
- Successfully manage financial performance across the group
- Report to the Board on the progress of strategies and plans, business risks, financial performance and matters which may have a material impact on the organisation’s activities or well being
- Build and maintain productive relationships with a diverse range of clients and industry stakeholders
- Monitor the external environment to identify emerging opportunities and lead the development of commercial solutions to address market needs
- Represent the business through the media, industry groups and stakeholder forums
- Identify and mitigate risks that may adversely impact business performance or reputation
To be successful in this role you will be experienced in leading significant business change, building cohesive teams and leading the delivery of professional services in a commercial environment, with a proven ability to grow the business and shareholder returns. You will need to demonstrate outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong, productive and collaborative relationships. You will have proven analytical capacity and decisiveness, with experience in developing entrepreneurial and innovative approaches to the development of strategies, plans and projects. You must possess outstanding integrity and professionalism, exceptional communication skills with high levels of emotional intelligence. Knowledge of the local government environment is highly desirable.
