About the role
Reporting to the Chief People and Sustainability Officer, the Group HR Strategy and Employee Relations Manager is accountable for developing and implementing human resource strategies that align with SPAs overall goals and objectives.

The Group HR Strategy and Employee Relations Manager will focus on developing and implementing HR strategies that meet the business needs across divisions and locations. They will be responsible for leading their team in areas such as employee engagement, industrial relations, learning and development programs, leadership development, and human resource policy and procedures. The Group HR Strategy and Employee Relations Manager plays a key role in driving HR initiatives that support the overall business strategy and contribute to a positive work culture.

All business activities of the Group HR Strategy and Employee Relations Manager are in line with Southern Ports’ mission, vision and corporate values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support SPAs goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate and partner with senior leadership, managers and employees to align HR strategies with business needs.
  • Provide guidance and support to HR team members on best practices in HR strategy and employee relations.
  • Partner with the Group HR Services Manager to develop and implement business improvement initiatives.
  • Lead employee relation initiatives and handle complex employee relation issues.
  • Conduct investigations into complex employee complaints and grievances.
  • Analyse HR data and metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement learning and development programs aligned with the SPAs goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and managers to develop learning and development programs and initiatives.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
  • Provides specialist leadership, advice and support to the Executive and senior leaders across Southern Ports in relation to HR strategy and employee relations.
  • Collaborate with other Group Managers in the People and Sustainability Team to ensure HR strategy and employee relations are aligned with the organisations goals and objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support to the HR strategy and employee relations team members.
  • Lead, develop and participate in HR projects and initiatives to enhance HR service delivery and support organisations goals and objectives.
  • Provide specialist support to senior leadership on Industrial relations matters
  • Managing relationships with unions & ensuring that the Southern Ports’ treatment of employees is consistent with its core business values and objectives.
  • Define, develop, and maintain industrial relations plan / strategy
  • Consider and advise on industrial changes, trends and opportunities which impact on business outcomes

Experience and Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Organisational Development or another relevant field
  • Significant experience in HR strategy development and employee relations management.
  • Significant senior leadership experience including demonstrated experience leading and managing a team.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Knowledge of contemporary organisational development, workforce planning and change management principles and practices
  • Highly-developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and influence clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly-developed conceptual and analytical skills and proven ability to design and implement strategies to support and enhance organisational performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and evaluate performance outcomes and deliver results.

Requirements

To be eligible for permanent position, applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency and reside in Bunbury, Esperance, Albany or Perth.

The successful applicant must have a current WA driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
