About the role
This is a newly created position to lead the procurement function for the Rivergum Group to ensure that our materials, services and supplies are sourced at the best possible price while meeting the required specifications.
Working at both a strategic and operational level, you are a commercially minded seasoned professional, who is well-versed in sourcing, negotiation, contract management and supplier relationship management.
Key responsibilities include
- Work collaboratively within the business to understand procurement requirements for the Group including the development of robust sourcing and supply strategies, which caters for the full life cycle of a build including maintenance period.
- Lead supplier and labour negotiations and finalise supplier and labour contract agreements to achieve the best possible contractual terms.
- Build long-term, strategic and sustainable supplier and trade relationships.
- Identifying opportunities, sourcing and researching new suppliers and presenting recommendations.
- Develop best-practice procedures and processes which deliver operational efficiencies, compliance and cost benefits for the Group.
- Setting of KPIs for suppliers and managing their performance against those targets.
- Monitor new products related to building activities and in consultation with the Management Team, make recommendations and provide purchasing advice on new products and suppliers.
- Manage the Purchasing Liaison Officer and any other team members with accountability through performance management, coaching and mentoring, personal development and the setting and regular reviewing of individual KPIs and goals.
- Preparing monthly reports for the Executive Leadership Team on financial and operational performance, and issues arising from the impact of proposed plans and strategies.
About you
- Previous experience in a similar role, within the construction, building supply or like industry.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a procurement role or senior estimator position.
- Proactive, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven success in negotiating supplier contracts to gain the cost-effective pricing, operational efficiencies and high levels of service standards.
- High attention to detail and accurate record management skills.
- Knowledge of and experience in purchasing and procurement principles, and methods including procure-to-pay processes, buying, quality assurance, contract administration and contract law.
- Ability to differentiate between grades, qualities, and varieties of construction materials, supplies, and equipment.
- An understanding of residential construction techniques and operational management, building codes and legislative requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions under pressure and manage changing priorities.
