About the Role

The primary purpose of the position is to provide high quality clinical care to the Haematology patients of St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne.

  • Clinical Care - inpatient service, outpatient clinics
  • Teaching/education
  • Multidisciplinary meeting
  • Clinical research including being principal/co-investigators on clinical trials and related responsibilities.

Classifications for this position will be dependent on years of Specialist experience.

Your Contribution

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • FRACP or equivalent by examination in Haematology
  • FRCPA or equivalent by examination in Haematology
  • AHPRA registration (or eligibility)

About Haematology Service

The SVHM haematology unit offers a diverse range of care which includes clinical (Malignant and classical haematology with a wide range of acuity requiring a range of treatment including high-dose chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, CAR-T cells, T cell engagers and other novel therapeutics through clinical trials), procedural (e.g. apheresis, bone marrow biopsies) and laboratory environments. In addition, a significant component of our clinical activity revolves around clinical trials.

The haematology clinical trials unit consists of a team of over 40 trial-coordinators and over 130 active recruiting studies in myeloid and lymphoid disorders and multiple myeloma. The haematology team consists of 14 clinical and laboratory haematologists, 1 clinical fellow, 6 registrars (3 clinical and 3 Haematology Laboratory) and 4 HMOs (residents).

The position requires attendance in the Haematology department of St Vincent Hospital, participation in haematology patient care including outpatient clinics, SVHM outreach clinics at GVH, ward service, clinical trials activity and on call services.
