Located 15 minutes south of Launceston, Tasmania’s northern capital, Longford is the gateway to some of the world’s most famous and picturesque trout fishing in Australia. The Longford region is predominantly agricultural, noted for wool, dairy produce, and stock breeding. With its high rainfall and cold winters, it’s a perfect environment for growing pasture-fed cattle.
Longford’s complex medium sized fully integrated processing facility produces a range of grass and grain fed beef products under brands such as King Island Beef, Red Gum, Great Southern, Pinnacle and Little Joes.
JBS Longford exports to over 30 countries around the world including Brazil, China, Switzerland, and the EU. Longford’s plant employs approximately 300 team members with a current processing capacity of 550 head of cattle per day, operating 5 days a week.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Halal Slaughter Person at our Longford Plant.

Responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):
- Perform general slaughtering roles as directed by the Halal Supervisor.
- Perform all roles in line with Workplace Health and Safety, animal welfare and quality procedures.
Criteria for selection will include (but is not limited to):
- Practicing Muslim
- Ability to work in a repetitive and fast paced environment
- Reliable, respectful and punctual
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous knife experience desirable but not essential
- Full working rights
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment medical and physical examinations
