Our Environment
St Virgil’s College is a Kindergarten to Year 12 school for boys, founded in 1911 and conducted by Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA).
The St Virgil’s Junior School (Kindergarten to Year 6) is located in Patrick Street, Hobart, adjacent to St Mary’s Cathedral. The secondary campus (Year 7 to 12) is situated on an expansive property at Austins Ferry.
All roles within the College are informed by the mission of a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition.
The Job
The Principal’s Personal Assistant (PA) will be responsible for providing administrative support to the College Principal. The provision of administration support to the Principal is vital in ensuring the College is managed in an effective manner and operates as a dynamic and progressive Catholic educational organisation in the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice.
The Principal’s PA will be a highly motivated and energetic individual displaying excellent interpersonal, information technology, time management and administration skills. It is recognised that the role has periods of very high workload and that during peak times the Principal’s PA will liaise with the Administration Team for assistance with administrative tasks.
The Principal’s PA will need to exhibit a personal commitment to the mission and vision of St Virgil's College, have an excellent eye for detail and commitment to achieving quality outcomes within the confines of Commonwealth Privacy legislation.
Key Selection Criteria
The Key Selection Criteria that will be used to select the successful applicant include:
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the educational philosophy and mission of St Virgil's College as a Catholic School for boys in the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice.
- Experience in educational administration and development.
- High level computer skills – including experience/skills with Microsoft Office, including Sharepoint and Teams, and database management programmes.
- High level time management, administration and planning skills.
- Ability to produce high quality and accurate work, both under close and minimal supervision.
Personal Qualities
- Friendly, positive and professional disposition;
- Self-motivated;
- Flexible and adaptable;
- Able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure;
- Ability to problem solve and to work as part of a team;
- Understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school.
