About the role
At Rombola Family Farms, we offer exciting career opportunities in a supportive and innovative work environment. Harvest activities include, but are not limited to:
•Picking fruit and vegetables according to size and ripeness by hand.
•Discarding rotting and over-ripened produce following our quality standards.
•Operate small tractors to transport fruit.
•Loading picked fresh produce into containers.
•Digging and planting/transplanting seedlings by hand or equipment.
•Receiving incoming goods, checking for damage and for discrepancies between goods and packing orders.
•Unloading vehicles, opening packages, and removing contents.
•Labelling goods with details of storage location.
•Packing and weighing goods and sealing boxes.
•Assisting with regular stocktakes.
•Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops.
•Perform general labouring tasks.
•Perform daily pre-start and post-operation checks.
•Dig and plant seeds, or transplant seedlings by hand or machine.
•Perform thinning or pruning activities.
•Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive to storage facilities.
•Performing a range of housekeeping tasks in premises and grounds.
•Performing basic recording functions related to work performed at this level.
•Providing assistance within the scope of this level to other employees as required.
To be successful in the role you will possess the following:
•Current Driver's License.
•Evidence of work rights.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.
•Team player who can work effectively with people from different backgrounds.
•Awareness and ability to adhere to rules and procedures.
•Flexibility in hours worked to achieve operational targets, including weekends and public holidays.
•Good level of physical fitness, including ability to kneel, grasp, bend/twist, lift light to moderate. loads (up to 10-15kg) and be able to work in temperature extremes and dust.
Number of positions available: 20
Commencement: January - February 2024. This role will be permanent and ongoing.
Renumeration: $22.61/hr (Horticulture Award 2020, Level 1)
Training:
This position undertakes induction training which may include information on Rombola Family Farms, conditions of employment, introduction to supervisors and fellow workers, training and career opportunities, plant-workstation layout, work and documentation procedures, work health and safety, equal employment opportunity and quality control/assurance.
