Job description

Come join us at our Rookwood salmon hatchery, nestled in the heart of the Huon Valley in Ranelagh (only 30 minutes south of Hobart). As a full-time Hatchery Attendant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the early stages of the salmon lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a genuine interest in freshwater fish farming and is looking to settle into a career in aquaculture.

What does your week look like?

As a self-motivated team player, you will be involved working within our Incubation and Start Feed team to complete a range of tasks, such as: stocking eggs, feed and water quality assessment, quality/weight checks, and daily tank cleaning. Working within a small and supportive team, you’ll need to be able to adapt and think on your feet to succeed in this role. You will be working 40 hours a week, across a Sunday to Thursday roster (usually 7am-3.30pm)

What can you bring?

  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Reliability, passion, and a ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Previous experience in a hatchery environment and a technical knowledge of fish husbandry (desirable but not essential)

Please note to be successful, you must be able to provide proof that you have the right to work in Australia (birth certificate/passport) and be willing to complete a pre-employment medical assessment and drug test.

What’s in for you?

  • Hourly rate starting from $25.13, increasing as you gain experience and learn more skills!
  • Fantastic opportunity to progress in the aquaculture industry and work with a supportive team
  • Generous employee discount on our range of seafood products
  • Access to Maxxia Rewards – an online app where you can receive a discount on your weekly supermarket shop, purchase discounted movie tickets & more!

Who are we?

Our people each contribute in different ways, embracing our business values and harnessing our can do – safely culture with purpose and intent.  Our shared values are an essential part of our business culture, they define us. They underpin and guide our commitment, attitude, how we work and the quality of our products. We are passionate, we achieve together, we own it, and we can do safely.

Applications close on 10th April 2024. However, we encourage early applications as we review on a daily basis.

If you have any questions, please email Jemma (*************@tassal.com.au) but please ensure you apply online to be considered.
