ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Team Leader, the primary purpose of the role is to perform a range of general transport duties for which the employee has competence as directed by Qube Ports management. These tasks are conducted on local and interstate highways, client premises or other pick up & delivery addresses in a safe and productive manner.
Specific Responsibilities
- Efficient operation of the site's vehicles
- BFM Accreditation or willing to obtain.
- Complete all necessary associated documentation (such as the preparation and signing of cartage dockets and service requests)
- Follow appropriate company procedures
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of deficiencies in the delivery of product
- Undertake supervision work when directed
- Take good care of vehicles / plant under your care
- Ensure compliance with all Main Roads Heavy vehicle operating guide lines
- Ensure compliance with fatigue management
- Ensure compliance with loading requirements, axle weights, adhering to vehicle specific permits
- Heavy Combination (HC) Drivers Licence or specific license as required
- Minimum of 2 years truck driving experience
- Experience with Truck & Dog Tippers desirable
- Demonstrate suitable driving history with HC licence.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
- Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
- Ability to work well within a small team environment
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable Commonwealth/State Safety and Environmental legislation and standards, Main Road Heavy vehicle legislation and permitting standards
- MSIC Card desirable
- Day & Night Shift availability and desire to work overtime.
- Basic mechanical knowledge in dealing with heavy vehicles
- Good driving skills for heavy haulage trucks
- Good skills in operating other equipment used by Qube
