Head of Airside Operations

Brisbane Airport (BNE) is searching for our next leader of the Airside Operations team that will continue the strong safety and compliance performance, and take our operations to the next level of efficiency and sustainability!

As we enter an era of equipment electrification, automation, Airport Collaborative Decision Making (ACDM), and an increasing focus on efficiency, we are looking for a leader that is inspired by our growth story towards becoming one of the leading sustainable airport hubs in the Asia Pacific region.

As the Head of Airside Operations, you will report to the Executive General Manager of Aviation and play a pivotal role in leading our Airside Operations team. Your primary responsibility will be to uphold the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational efficiency across all airside activities at BNE. This includes overseeing a team of Airside Safety Officers who manage day-to-day operational safety and compliance, our Airport Operating Licence, Wildlife, and Training teams to proactively manage safety and risk controls.

This is a full-time permanent position based at Brisbane Airport’s Airside Operations Centre.

About you

• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse and capable 24/7 shift-based field team of safety officers.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with a proven track record of building effective relationships.
• Sound knowledge of safety, security, and regulatory requirements in the aviation industry.
• Proficiency in data analysis, business case formulation, presentations and document control processes.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
•    Set the strategic direction for the Airside Operations team, ensuring alignment with BAC's business plan and values. 
•    Provide leadership, support, and empowerment to team members to enable delivery against organisational goals.
•    Establish and maintain a proactive safety culture across all airside users, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and operational standards. 
•    Continually enhance operational processes and procedures to manage identified risks effectively.
•    Maximise airfield efficiency through effective management of the Airport Operating Licence, including driver behaviour, equipment registration, and aircraft parking compliance.
•    Identify opportunities for improvement and drive innovation in day-to-day activities and processes.
•    Collaborate with key aviation stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and airline partners, to address operational issues, facilitate regulatory change, and ensure the integrity of airport operations.

Experience & Qualifications 
Essential 
•    At least 15 years' experience in airport operations, airport management, or a related environment, with previous major airport operations experience preferred.
•    Formal qualifications (degree level) in Aviation Management, Engineering, Commerce, or a relevant discipline.
•    Possession of a current Class C driver's license, Cat 3 Airside Drivers Licence, and Aircraft Radio Operator’s Certificate of Proficiency (AROCP). 
•    ASIC and security check required.
