What you do:

Reporting to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, the Head of Compliance will play a key role in managing the Compliance Management System within the local Business Unit. The role will also assist the Company to continuously meet its compliance obligations in relation to the relevant aspects of applicable regulations and internal policies whilst providing leadership to the Australia Compliance team.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Draft, implement and maintain policies, procedures and processes supporting continuious adherance to local Australian laws, prudential regulations and guidelines, Group complaince policies, standards and rules
  • Management of the end-to-end Compliance breach process including breach reporting and escalation
  • Ongoing management and maintenance of the Compliance obligations register, including adequate assignemt assessment and asignment of controls to appropriate points of accountability in the business
  • Provide guidance and support for 1st line Risk and Complaince Officers (RCO) as to how they adequately manage and mitigate complaionce risk in our business including participation in regular RCO forums
  • Develop and execute annaul Complaince Assurance Program, ad hoc compliance reviews and spot checks
  • Undertake complaince assurance and risk assessments on major projects and material business process changes
  • Provide consultative support in the implementation of (risk mitigating) strategies and campaigns and assist with the co-ordination of any associated procedures in relation to new / amended products, services or campaign
  • Undertake compliance awareness, training and communication activities
  • Act as local program manager (SME) for Compliance Risk and Program Maturity Assessment
  • Maintain effective relationships with Allianz Partners Group Compliance counterparts and the Allianz Australia Insurance Limited relationship manager
  • Whistleblowing investigations and reporting, escalation to local management or Group Compliance
  • Support the Complaince Committee Chair (CRCO) with management and administration of this governance forum
  • Chair the local Integrity Committee
  • Support the CRCO with complaince reporting to the local Board, Executive and other rlevant committees and keeping of minutes, if required
  • Support the CRCO and collaborate with relevant Group Complaince functions aroud the local implementation of anti-financial crime measures and Economic Sanctions compliance
  • Support as required Group Compliance projects and training initiatives
  • Adhere to the risk management and compliance obligations relevant to each position and comply with policies, processes and training requirements.
  • Report and escalate risk and compliance related concerns, issues and failures


As the successful candidate for the Head of Compliance role, you will be able to show:

Experience:

  • Senior experience in a Compliance function leadership role of a financial services firm
  • Insurance group experience highly desirable
  • Comprehensive functional skill and experience in the area of Compliance
  • Proven experience in Advanced problem solving & decision making

  • High personal integrity
  • Proven high level of professionalism, maturity and candour in daily work ethic
  • Demonstrated ability to work under high pressure including the ability to achieve outcomes, prioritise work, meet deadlines, motivate staff, and retain personal motivation and tolerance

Communication:

  • Ability to communicate, influence and build effective relationships at all levels of the business
  • An intuitive thinker - able to adapt and tailor communications to appropriate audiences

Leadership:

  • Ability and willingness to inspire and lead a team to perform against all key role requirements
  • Experience in providing development and coaching to others
