Please note: This role is remote for now; however, we’d expect you to spend time with clients and the team in person when needed, and when we establish an office in the CBD (in the future), we’d require 2-3 days per week in the office.
Who we are looking forWe are seeking a Head, Regulatory and Compliance to join our team.
The Head, Regulatory and Compliance ensures our clients have a great experience and is accountable for delivering Regulatory and Compliance outcomes for GXE and assigned clients.
This is a “hands-on leadership role” and will lead and be responsible for the Regulatory and Compliance aspects of GXE’s business. This role will be responsible for identifying and managing risks associated with the delivery of financial services both internally and to our clients. These responsibilities include the oversight, management and operations of GXE’s risk, compliance and statutory reporting obligations. The Head of Regulatory and Compliance will also be GXE’s lead AML/CTF Compliance Officer and will have the relevant and depth experience to be appointed as an AFSL Responsible Manager on a GXE AFS License.
This position plays a pivotal role in the growth of GXE and will work “at the speed of the client”. You must develop great relationships with our clients, regulatory bodies, service providers and the GXE team to succeed. This will initially be an individual leader role; however, there may be an opportunity to build a small team supported by client demand and revenue growth.

In the first month, you will…
You will concentrate on establishing relationships with key stakeholders and team members to understand their roles, deliverables, and challenges. You'll immerse yourself in the GXE vision and strategy, its value proposition, and go-to-market strategies and learn about the platform, software, and client base. Additionally, you will become acquainted with the business's priorities and familiarise yourself with GXE's policies, compliance programs (including AFSL, AML/CTF, and AFSL CAR), client contracts, and overall compliance reporting status. Meeting with relevant service providers and completing the onboarding process will also be key activities during this initial period.
In the next three months, you will…
You will strengthen relationships with key clients and executives, ensuring GXE adheres to all Regulatory and Compliance obligations. You'll take charge of the Regulatory and Compliance function, including becoming the AML/CTF Compliance Officer, and lead the assessment and improvement of GXE's compliance framework. Your role involves engaging with service providers, identifying and bridging gaps in GXE's compliance processes, and formulating strategies for future enhancements. Additionally, you'll be responsible for regulatory reporting, communicating with GXE leadership, and integrating Regulatory and Compliance priorities into the quarterly planning process to align with GXE's broader product development goals.
In the following months, you will…
You will oversee the revision and enhancement of GXE's regulatory documents and client contracts and lead the Regulatory and Compliance strategy focusing on integrating product design and automation advancements. You'll also serve as a Responsible Manager on GXE's AFS License, ensuring compliance and operational excellence. Furthermore, you'll align the Regulatory and Compliance function with GXE's sales strategies to support client onboarding and service delivery. Your efforts will extend to providing thought leadership in the industry and identifying opportunities to expand business with current clients.

Requirements

- Strong executive engagement skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively interact, influence, and build relationships with C-level executives and senior leaders within client organisations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Well-developed commercial and business acumen, an ambitious entrepreneurial spirit, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Incredible attention to detail with big-picture thinking.
- A deep understanding of our industry and the ability to stay current with industry trends. Domain knowledge within family offices, private equity, property development, and venture capital would be beneficial.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration. Master's degree preferred.
- Ten years of experience in Regulatory and Compliance, preferably in wholesale funds, private equity, real estate or venture capital.
- Prior experience as an AFSL Responsible Manager would be highly regarded, but otherwise, you have at least sufficient financial experience to qualify as an AFSL Responsible Manager.
- Professional certificates such as Chartered Accountants (CA) would also be advantageous.
- Experience in AFSL-related audits or willingness to learn
