A little bit about the role…
The Head of Design will direct the creative vision for the company’s global apparel and equipment ranges. The role requires strategic day to day direction as well as the execution of product strategy via Global Product meetings and Global Design Camps. Based in Christchurch, your day to day responsibilities include;
- Create foundational design principles that clearly articulates design purpose and vision from concept to final production
- Ensure all designs enhance and reflect the brand's identity, values, and aesthetic, maintaining uniformity across different product lines to reinforce brand recognition and trust
- Set clear goals and priorities, aligning design team focus with overall business objectives, brand values, and company culture
- Commit to environmentally friendly practices and sustainable design solutions that meet user expectations and secure a competitive market edge
- Work with development teams (and Head of sourcing & development) and suppliers for prompt communication throughout a season.
- Foster creativity and inspiration within the team, Inspire and motivate team members towards achieving goals, provide guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities to foster their growth and success
- Work closely with the GM Product, Heads of Product Creation and Cross-divisional HODS to actualize seasonal product and marketing initiatives
- Develop and manage the apparel design department budget, allocating resources effectively to support design initiatives and achieve financial targets
- Leverage our Direct to Consumer (DTC) distribution channel by executing quick to market product injections to address customer demands and product assortment gaps.
You bring a wealth of demonstrated experience in the field of Design (apparel & equipment), including leading design teams. You have a strong portfolio showcasing a range of successful design projects and demonstrating creative and strategic capabilities.
As an Empathetic leader you have a proven ability in mobilizing design teams in the build of market leading and commercially viable product. You demonstrate your ability to develop and communicate a clear design vision aligned with business objectives. You have a deep understanding of consumer behaviour and market trends with high awareness of how to merge creative with the drive for results.
