Due to upcoming parental leave, we are seeking a new Head of Engineering for a maximum 12 month fixed term contract. Based at our Ballarat Chocolate factory, this senior people leadership role which reports into the Director of Engineering for Global Emerging Markets (GEM), also has responsibility for our mints, gums and confectionery factory based in Asquith NSW. Monthly travel to the Asquith site is required for success in this role.
The role collaborates with supply heads, plant teams, and regional partners towards defining each site’s capital strategy, with the accountability to deliver that strategy. This role is also responsible for ensuring a strong and engaged talent pipeline of Engineering professionals. What are we looking for?
minimum 5 Years experience in both People Leadership & Capital Project ManagementExperience within FMCG and ideally food manufacturing
Experience/knowledge for broader functions within the manufacturing environment such as operations, quality & food safety, safety & environment, etc.A high level of fluency in English, in both written and verbal forms
Bachelor Degree in Engineering (further qualifications will be well regarded)What would be your key responsibilities? Lead the Australia engineering team, by creating an engaging and winning environment through high performance collaboration (HPC)Develop and coach the team to ensure excellence in project preparation and execution in line with the Eng@Mars model, the Mars Project management processes, and Health Safety & Environment (HSE) / Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS) standards. Accountable for the project delivery in the region, according to the scope, including safety, legal obligations, Mars standards, quality, sustainability, financial governance.
Lead the contractor management and development process
In collaboration with the site Technical Manager provide guidance and technical leadership to the Plant Teams to support Master-planning and Asset Health ChecksCo-create with the site stakeholders the overall CAB (Capital Approval Budget) site strategy based on regional business needs
Balancing project activity peaks by adequate people resource allocation from the cluster team to the sites for project execution. Key point of contact for second escalation step (after site engineer) regarding engineering escalations from Plant Team or Site Technical LeaderAs a member of the GEM Engineering Leadership team and Ballarat Factory Management Team (FMT) work with the GEM Engineering Director and Site Director in the co-creation and deployment of the overall GEM engineering strategy, Ballarat site strategy and the development of people and talent.
