Job description

The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) has earned much recognition as a leading educator for the game development, 3D animation and visual FX industries with campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Online and in the US.

AIE is looking for a Head of Faculty in 3D Animation & Film VFX.  It is preferred that you have worked in the industry and would like to come and join our team.  The Head of Faculty is responsible for the Academic Management of qualifications and covers all Australian campuses and, where required, overseas campuses. Faculties consist of Programming, Game Art, Game Design, Production and Film VFX. Your Faculty would be 3D Animation & Film VFX. The Head of Faculty role generally requires between two - four days per week dedicated to managing and organising the duties surrounding qualifications. Regular on-line and face to face teaching/guest lecturing across campuses should also be undertaken as part of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and be accountable for the standardisation and currency of curriculum, resources, hardware, software, and delivery of AIE courses – currently the Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development.  
  • In concert with the executive team and IT department, successfully plan and deploy software and hardware requirements prior to commencement for AIE courses.
  • Scope, plan and report curriculum and resource development requirements to the executive team for approval.
  • Develop curriculum and resources to maintain existing, and for the creation of, new AIE courses.
  • Manage individuals and/or small teams to develop curriculum and resources to maintain existing and for the creation of new AIE courses.
  • To develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders related industry, including establishing and/or maintaining established Industry Advisory connections.
  • Provide quality control of AIE assessment, delivery activities and documentation to assist in maintaining compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015, AIE’s established policies and procedures, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
  • Provide quality assurance of moderation activities to ensure consistency of standards and student outcomes.
  • Accurately map and maintain AIE curriculum to national and enterprise training package competencies and requirements.
  • To inductfaculty, to ensure the standardised delivery of curriculum and attention to best practices. 
  • To recommend professional development activities for Film VFX faculty to the Academic Director.
  • To support faculty in all aspects of delivery, including but not limited to, familiarisation with curriculum, hardware, software, and delivery platforms. 
  • To assist Head of Schools with recruitment of Film VFX faculty, including but not limited to, review resumes and participating in interviews.
  • To deliver course content using a combination of methods including face to face, flexible and online modes. 
  • To effectively work with faculty and cross-departmental staff both in Australia and the United States of America.
  • Adhere to AIE’s policies and procedures.
  • Other tasks as reasonably required by the Academic Director, CEO or COO.

 Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline areas and/or relevant experience in an Educational environment of at least 6 years.
  • Current Cert IV Training and Assessment TAE40116, or Diploma in Training and Assessment
  • Prior experience working within RTO’s or in the Vocational Education and Training sector and/or TAFE sector with an understanding of AQF, ASQA, and State Government Funding. Knowledge of the National Training environment is essential.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong commitment to outcomes.
  • Ability to relate effectively to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and sustain productive relationships.
  • Capacity to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, in particular Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Student Management Systems and Learning Management Systems.

Please note:

  • This is a part-time position with a 5-month probation period.
  • Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
