About this Position  
 
A remarkable opportunity awaits an experienced fundraiser in the executive leadership team at Wayside. You will lead the strategic and tactical management of our Fundraising and Marketing operations, playing a pivotal role in the future success of both Wayside and our community. In this capacity, you will be responsible for developing and executing multi-year forecasts, as well as meeting annual budget targets. 
  
Key Responsibilities  
 
Fundraising 

  • Spearhead the formulation and execution of the fundraising strategy aimed at attaining annual revenue targets, fostering continual expansion and viability of both existing and emerging revenue channels. 
  • Direct the efficient management of current fundraising portfolios, including major donors, corporate partnerships, corporate volunteering, bequests, trusts and foundations, regular giving direct marketing, and community fundraising. 
  • Ensure a cohesive and consistent narrative across fundraising, marketing, and communication endeavors, fostering collaboration towards common objectives of revenue growth, outreach expansion, enhanced visibility, and supporter base enlargement. 
  • Supervise the development of an accurate annual income budget reflecting the organisation's growth aspirations and expenses, guaranteeing sufficient financial resources for the team to fulfil its key performance indicators. 
  • Guide the creation of multi-year fundraising forecasts for Wayside, providing a roadmap for sustainable financial planning and resource allocation. 
  • Ensure adequate Human Resources planning within the Fundraising and Marketing team through appropriate planning mechanisms, facilitating team effectiveness and efficiency. 
  • Offer guidance and assistance for all fundraising endeavours conducted by the team, facilitating their success and impact. 
  • Actively engage in an outward-facing role within the Major Gifts Program, participating in public speaking events and individual donor stewardship activities to enhance donor relationships and support. 
  
Marketing 
  • Champion the development, promotion, and safeguarding of the Wayside brand, while enhancing the public visibility of the organisation, its CEO/Pastor, mission, programs, and the challenges confronted by service users. 
  • Lead the creation and implementation of strategies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of marketing and communication channels, encompassing media, external communications, digital platforms, social media, events, and community education. 
  • Oversee the development of marketing strategies designed support to revenue generation. 
  • Assure the whole of organisation are compliant with brand guidelines. 
  
  
  
Leadership and Culture 
  • Contribute to the delivery of Wayside s organisational strategy, along with the reporting and tracking of relevant strategic initiatives. 
  • Ensure there is an aligned and consistent narrative across fundraising, marketing and communication activities and ensure each function works towards the shared goals of growing income, reach, profile and the supporter base; 
  • Oversee the strategic and annual planning processes for both Fundraising and Marketing ensuring alignment with organisational goals and priorities. 
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Fundrasing and Marketing team to effectively implement the operational plan. 
  • In collaboration with Executive build an organisational culture that cultivates the Wayside values – Courage, Collaboration, Connection and Curiosity and role model those values in every interaction. 
  
Networks and Relationships 
  • Manage and help direct the relationships with Wayside Board of Directors with respect to all aspects of marketing and fundraising activities; 
  • Represent Wayside at key industry events and where required attend events in place CEO/Pastor 
  • Maintain relationship with core staff, relevant funding bodies, and local stakeholders. 
  
Key Challenges 
  • Fostering a cohesive work environment

About you  
  
  • 10+ years of Fundraising experience including 5+ years at a senior level. 
  • Thorough understanding and demonstrable practical experience in Direct Marketing, Major Gift fundraising and Regular Giving in the not-for-profit sector 
  • Demonstrable experience of designing and implementing data lead fundraising strategies. 
  • Advanced written communication abilities 
  • Superior ability to negotiate and influence 
  • Experience in leading and developing large teams. 
  • Highly numerate with superior analytical skills. 
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and monitoring complex budgets. 
  • Experience in participating and leading strategic planning processes 
  • An understanding of and commitment to the principles of workplace diversity, participative work practices and Workplace, Health and Safety. 
  • Demonstrated experience in building and leading high-performing teams. 
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Wayside Chapel and a passion for making a positive impact in the community.
