About the Role
The Head of Investments role is a new position within the fund reflecting the requirement for a senior resource to join the management team of the business focussing on delivering on the investment strategy.
The position comes with the opportunity to refine and execute the origination strategy and investment management, positioning the fund as a leading non-bank lender of choice in its chosen markets.
The successful candidate will build on the existing portfolio of diversified investments and clients across property and Corporate Finance consistent with the funds middle market focus ($5 – $30m typical loan size), with the oversight of senior management and its investment committee.

About the Role

The successful candidate will build on the existing portfolio of diversified investments and clients across property and Corporate Finance consistent with the funds middle market focus ($5 – $30m typical loan size), with the oversight of senior management and its investment committee.
Key Responsibilities
- Origination and execution of high-quality investment (equity or debt) opportunities offering a suite of capital solutions that reflect investor and borrower objectives
- Lead team in initial investment analysis, due diligence and coordination with both internal and external stakeholders in structuring and negotiating mandate terms for investment deals
- Present and sponsor investment proposals to the Investment Committee
- Lead the investment process within the team including providing guidance, input and endorsement of investment strategies and management through active investment management, accurate record keeping, and supporting transactions through to investment completion
- Project management and deal leadership in execution, management and analysis of investment risks and opportunities
- Ensure accuracy in preparation of investment modelling
- Lead responsibility in the preparation of investment committee papers and investment proposals
- Responsibility for the presentation of quarterly investor facing investment reports
- Management / coordination of external stakeholder relationships throughout the deal life cycle
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, Commerce, Construction, Real Estate, Law or similar.
- 10+ years’ experience in experience across relevant discipline in Real Estate / real assets, preferably within one or more of the following settings: investment banking, private equity, debt, advisory and / or investment management.
- Ability to execute (with demonstrated track record) on Real Estate financing and joint venture documentation, at all levels of the capital stack.
- Detailed understanding of Real Estate valuation principles across all asset sectors.
- Demonstrated understanding of construction risks, documentation, programming and contract risks
- Sound knowledge of Corporate Finance theory (e.g. IRR, NPV, multiples, financial ratios) and accounting fundamentals
- Strong financial modelling and investment analysis skills - feasibility / project level as well as trust cashflow, budgeting and returns, with attention to detail
- Significant track record in lending transaction execution.
- Legal and tax structuring experience for specific investment transactions or fund purposes with a solid understanding of general principles of taxation impacting investment decisions
- Good understanding of, and compliance with, fiduciary, regulatory and legal obligations to relevant stakeholders
