The Role
As a member of the Associated Public Schools (APS) and Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV), we are seeking an experienced coach to inspire our students to dream more and learn more. Reporting directly to the Coaching & Performance Manager, and working closely with the Head of Rowing, the Head of Junior Rowing & the Head of Intermediate Rowing will oversee the girls and boys Junior & Intermediate Rowing teams with a high degree of quality and effectiveness.
The Head of Junior Rowing and the Head of Intermediate Rowing roles will assist the coach and wider coaching program with Rowing; supporting the teams and specialist coaches and ensure that CGS policies, guidelines and values are delivered within the sport and represents CGS in APS / AGSV Review meetings. These roles will also provide administration support as required.
We have 2 part time opportunities managing the Junior Boys Rowing Teams or the Intermediate Rowing Teams. Initial engagement for both roles will be on a casual basis leading up to the beginning of the season in October of which the role will then be a 6-month fixed term contract.
Key Duties
- Attend all training and fixture commitments, with the potential for pre-season and holiday training.
- Assist in the planning of the training and competition programme in conjunction with the Senior Head Coach Rowing
- Develop technical skill, fitness, teamwork and leadership capabilities for all students
- Assist with the development of camp training plans, supervision and regattas
- Provide performance feedback and analysis to students while also supporting other senior crews as required by the Senior Head Coach Rowing
- Provide equitable opportunities to students to achieve their highest potential during the season and demonstrate their capacity and progress on merit

Skills and Experience
- Ability to implement a structured programme for students
- Rowing Coaching experience at Secondary School level or in Community Sport
- Experience coaching junior athletes desirable
- Experience in administration duties and interpersonal communication with stakeholders including students and their parents and CGS staff and external vendors
- Level 1 First Aid and Anaphylaxis Certification or be prepared to obtain these
- Hold or willing to obtain an Employment Working With Children Check
