About the role
Reporting to Chief Legal Officer, the Head of LegalSales & Consumer plays a pivotal role in supporting the Sales and Consumer business units. You will be a trusted business partner to each of the business unit executives and their leadership teams and provide support to key strategic projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters relating to the sales and consumer business units, including contracts governance, legal compliance, and dispute management.
What you will do
Key responsibilities include:
Providing strategic legal expertise to support business decision making
Managing customer contract review and execution governance processes
Advising on and supporting the development and execution of the Sales and Consumer business strategies (including brand and marketing strategies)
Staying current with legislation applicable to the sales and consumer function (eg competition and consumer laws) and developing and delivering key governance and legal compliance programs for the Sales & Consumer Teams
Leading and managing two lawyers who also support the Sales & Consumer teams providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight
Identifying and assessing legal risks associated with sales and consumer function and developing strategies to mitigate them.
What you will bring:
Relevant and locally recognised tertiary qualifications (Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree)
A minimum of 10 years legal practise with a combination of experience at a reputable mid to top tier law firm and in-house practice highly valued
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate to people in a range of positions up to board level
Proven ability to identify legal risks and develop commercially sound risk strategies
Strong influencing and relationship management skills at all stakeholder levels.
Ability to lead, mentor, mediate and manage competing interests.
Superior negotiation and contract drafting skills
A track record of resolving complex legal issues and disputes efficiently.
