About the role 

Responsible for the overall function and processes of National Jet Express Logistics Department. This position is responsible to ensure procurement and purchasing is efficient and cost-effective. This position is also responsible for ensuring that the routable/repairable pool is managed in such a way as to ensure that, for each off-wing component, time for restoration to serviceable condition is minimised, stock levels are adequate to support the fleet, product quality is maintained and maintenance costs are minimised.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the cost-effectiveness of all activities associated with the Logistics Department;
  • Manage and lead Logistics Department; 
  • Review and monitor vendor discount agreements and warranty terms;
  • Oversee and review fleet critical stock reports twice weekly providing actions and directions to improve shelf stocking rates.
  • Oversee the supplier back order reports and provide direction to improve delivery times on identified open Purchase Orders, Repair Orders or Engineering internal workshop orders as identified.
  • Monitor and recommend base parts holdings with the view to optimise these levels against effectively managed supplier delivery and component repair times.
  • Manage the supplier approval and renewal administration to ensure compliance to CASA and ISO accreditation levels 
  • Provide SME advice and management of all export control related issues 
  • Review and monitor the monthly freight account with the ultimate goal being reduction in cost;
  • Develop, train, implement, and review practices and procedures within the Logistics Department to ensure continued compliance with regulatory requirements and company procedures;
  • Ensure that all activities within the Logistics Department are conducted in accordance with the Company and CASA requirements;
  • Liaise with the Finance Department to monitor expenditure and, where necessary, focus on areas of concern, including action and approval of invoice queries;
  • Review and authorise purchase and component orders to within company limits;
  • Manage and resolve invoice queries with the Finance Department in a timely manner;
  • Maintain oversight and be responsible for all AOG functions;
  • Encourage a pro-active safety reporting regime;
  • Ensure all component maintenance is performed by approved repair facilities
  • Oversee Goods Inward Rejections, ensuring each are resolved to the companies satisfaction; 
  • Ensure that staff or contractors allocated to a particular task or duty are adequately trained and appropriately authorised to carry out that task or duty;
  • Hold safety as a core value and contribute to the achievement of a zero harm and incident/injury free environment through active participation in all safety programs relevant to the position
  • Proactively develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure service delivery expectations are fulfilled
  • Create and sustain a safe, hygienic and productive environment for individuals 

Personal Skills / Abilities

  • Extensive logistics, supply chain and procurement experience
  • Experience and knowledge of aviation logistics requirements
  • Strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and organised
  • Confident and well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a dynamic team
  • Strong customer focus and stakeholder management skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities under tight deadlines and high pressures. 
  • Results focused and awareness of operational outcomes
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analysis and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Well-developed negotiation skills
