We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Power Development to join our Power Development team based in Perth.
Reporting to the General Manager - Power Development, the primary purpose of this role is too secure all permits and approvals required for wind, thermal and battery projects in the South West Interconnected System. Working with key internal stakeholders, you will be required to create strategies for growth using your expert understanding of market trends and industries and identify, prioritise and pursue new opportunities focussed on new power generation opportunities in the SWIS.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for prospective Power Developments
Developing options for investment for renewable and thermal power projects, whilst generating robust financial and commercial evaluation of opportunities and proposals
Working with APA's internal teams, develop robust financial models to support investment decisions including accountability for obtaining sign off for the model inputs and presentation to internal stakeholders
Secure tenure for each project appropriate for the specific type of asset
Coordinate and undertake all studies relevant to support applications for the permits and approvals required to support construction of the specific type of asset
Apply for and secure all relevant primary approvals for each project
Negotiate and secure connection agreements and construction contracts, Identify appropriate consultants and experts and negotiate commercial agreements to undertake the relevant works for each project
Ensuring that Power Development projects meet legislative standards and those of relevant codes and standards where applicable and relevant
About You
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, finance, law or a discipline relevant to Power Development
Proven and extensive experience within the power generation industry in securing permits and approvals for power generation assets in Australia's contestable markets
Experienced in negotiating commercial agreements, connection agreements or design and construction agreements
Commercial acumen
Self starter being able to operate independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
High level negotiating and influencing skills
