Job description

St Monica's College is a Catholic co-educational College (Years 7 - 12) serving the northern suburbs of Melbourne and is governed under the authority of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Limited (MACS).

Our College is located on two metropolitan campuses in Epping and a rural campus, Ostia, in Strath Creek for spiritual retreat.  Epping campuses are walking distance from each other and the Epping train station. The College has recently acquired an additional facility called the MacKillop Centre. 

A vacancy exists for a suitably qualified person to work in the Sports Department as Head of Volleyball.  This is a newly created position within the Sports Department of the College. The successful applicant will report to the Director of Sport and be responsible for the day to day management of the College's growing Volleyball Program.

This position is permanent part time (three days per week).  Days of work and start date are to be negotiated.  Hours of work are 8.00 am to 4.36 pm with one hour for lunch. 

Core duties will include:

  • Day to day operational management of the Volleyball program, including coaching, budget management, development of training programs and management of  Volleyball Coaches
  • Oversee the development of a High Performance training program within the College’s elite pathway offering, the Athlete Development Program
  • Form key partnerships with community and State level programs to provide pathway opportunities for students
  • Assist in the coordination of any domestic tour arrangement for Volleyball teams
  • Coach a selection of Volleyball teams at a variety of year levels and attend training pre-or post school hours
  • Manage one permanent part time Volleyball Coach and a number of on staff coaches
  • General assistance across the College’s co-curricular vast sport program.

The successful candidate will have experience and possess the following skills and qualities:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in high performance, sport development or sports management roles
  • Minimum Volleyball Australia Level 2 Associate Coach qualification
  • Relevant experience and/or tertiary qualifications in sports related fields
  • Strong and effective leadership skills
  • Outstanding organisational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to a defined budget.

The successful applicant will be required to have or undergo both a Working with Children Check and a Police Check.  Applications should include a cover letter, CV and the names of three referees.

Salary for this position is in line with the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement as varied from time to time.
