This role is an exciting opportunity for a talented, experienced Pastry Chef looking for a long term and expanding role.
About the Role
Our Head Pastry Chef will oversee the day-to-day running of our established pastry department. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and mentoring the Pastry Team, and ensuring a collaborative and positive working environment.
The Head Pastry Chef will have creative outlet to drive innovation in pastry offerings through research and product development.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistently high-quality pastry items through use of best practice production methods, processes and schedules, making improvements where required.
- Lead product innovation and development including designing weekly specials and creating new core product lines.
- Actively manage the pastry team including rostering, training and performance management.
- Manage budgets and maintain stock control including supplier relations, inventory ordering, stock management and product costings.
- Collaborate with the management team and provide input to strategic direction, quality management, human resources and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety standards, internal policies and procedures and OH&S regulations.
- Must be available to work a range of different shift times, including 2am start times and weekend work.

About you:
- A minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience as a Head Pastry Chef.
- Leadership experience will be in a busy, high quality production kitchen or restaurant setting.
- Experience with end-to-end product development.
- Can demonstrate your experience leading a successful team.
- Experience with rostering, stock control and budgeting are important.
- Excellent time management skills and an innovative, creative mindset is crucial.
- Experience in laminated pastries.
