Form of workTownsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore.
Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1250 students, including 125 boarders (7-12), of whom approximately 25 are international students.
As one of the eight original Grammar schools in Queensland, Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time. The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland, also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12.
We have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced, qualified Rowing Coach to lead our successful rowing program, commencing in Term 2, 2024.
This position can be filled on a part-time (approximately 25 hours per week) basis or full-time if the successful candidate has other sports coaching or administration experience that can add value to the School’s sporting program. The initial term of engagement will be until 31 December 2024, with the opportunity for on-going employment thereafter. Hours during the off season and term breaks are negotiable.
In collaboration with the Director of Sport & Activities and Rowing Coaches, the Head Rowing Coach will be responsible for managing the facilitation of a safe, professional and well organised rowing program to all students in the Townsville Grammar School rowing team. The role will assume responsibility for all Year 8-12 rowers in relation to training and competition. The Head Rowing Coach will lead and mentor Rowing Coaches and actively participate in the skills development of the rowing team.
Work outside of regular hours and on weekends, as well as attendance at away regattas and camps is expected as part of this role.
About you
We are looking for someone with experience in managing coaches and coordinating sporting programs in a school environment. You must have a sound knowledge of the rowing sport, as well as a current First Aid Certificate and an unrestricted Driving Licence. A Level 1 or 2 coaching accreditation is highly desirable.
You will be an effective team member with excellent people and relationship management skills, who demonstrates a willingness to support the ethos and values of the School.
The successful applicant will also have or be willing to obtain a paid Queensland Working with Children Blue Card.
