Head Teaching Professional – Royal Canberra GC

The Royal Canberra Golf Club is one of Australia’s premier private clubs located in the beautiful Westbourne Woods. The Club’s facilities include 27 holes, a full-length championship driving range, a short iron range, chipping green and two putting greens. Our team of over 70 staff are highly professional, positive, service orientated and motivated.

Royal Canberra is in the middle of a 3-stage practice facility master plan which includes a new and improved range, double bay indoor teaching facility, and a new short game precinct. With the teaching facility building just weeks away from commencing construction. We are seeking the services of a fully qualified PGA Professional to undertake instruction to both members and visitors.

With over 45,000 competitive rounds, and near 1,000 active golfing members, there is much opportunity to build your client list at what will be the most technologically advanced, teaching facility in the state.

The Head Teaching Professional will work closely with the Director of Golf to promote and conduct golf instruction and player development programs to meet the needs/demands for all golfer segments in the Club.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:

• Certified PGA Member of Australia
• Must be a dedicated golf instructor with a minimum 3 years related experience in golf instruction.
• Experience using video analysis and Trackman software.
• Must possess exceptional communication skills.
• Highly polished interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people easily and quickly.
• Must be extremely organized, efficient and detail-oriented.
• Must be highly motivated, goal driven and self-starter.
• Knowledge of the local market is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Works closely with the Director of Golf to plan and develop instruction programs that appeal to all golfer segments.
• Provides golf instruction to private students, group participants and schools as demand dictates and as needed.
• Provides golf instruction for our Junior Academy, Junior Term Clinics and School Holiday Programs
• Provides golf instruction and ongoing programs for Women’s Introduction to Golf Program.
• Provides training and development to other instructors as directed and as needed.
• Assists in the supervision and upkeep of the practice facilities to ensure that safe, clean, organised and professional conditions exist throughout.
• Assists in keeping all teaching aids and instruction inventory in excellent condition.
• Utilises state-of-the-art teaching and learning theories and can integrate the use of training aids, video and club fitting into the facility’s instructional programs when necessary.
