About the role - We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Leader of Learning, Health & Physical Education to join our school community. This is a fulltime fixed term position (long service leave replacement) commencing mid Term 2 2024 through to the end of the 2025 school year. The ideal candidate will possess the ability and experience to effectively teach and lead others in the area of HPE. This role is a Tier 2+ position within the Brisbane Catholic Education Middle Leadership structure.
As a dynamic and innovative member of our school community, you will:
- Create a nurturing and ordered learning environment which is learner-centred, safe, supportive, co-operative and aligned with relevant curriculum, policies and practices
- Collaborate with your peers to develop and implement quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy
- Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning
- Work with the school leadership team and colleagues to contribute to the professional life of the school
- Proactively engage with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
- Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.
About you - To be successful in this role you will bring relevant qualifications and contemporary teaching experience, as well as:
- Strong literacy, numeracy and digital literacy practices plus a clear understanding of the Australian Curriculum and Queensland’s QCE system
- Commitment to child safety
- Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven organisational skills
- Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes
- Demonstrated competence against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers across professional knowledge, practice and engagement.
- Understanding of Brisbane Catholic Education’s Model of Pedagogy (incl. evidence-based, high yield teaching & learning practices) and Excellent Learning and Teaching Strategy
- Understanding of evidence-based HPE models of learning and pedagogies;
- Evidence of personal innovation and excellence in teaching and learning; preparedness to contribute to the co/extra-curricular programs of the College.
At BCE our teachers are required to:
- Hold a current Queensland College of Teachers registration; and
- Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

If this role does not require you to teach Religious Education, you do not need to be Catholic.
Yes, for primary and Religious Education teachers. Regarding a pathway to become Catholic, some employees opt to undertake the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). We support all teachers with Accreditation to Teach pathways after you start with us.
