Health And Safety Advisor

Hills Tankers is a privately owned, specialised carrier operating along the eastern seaboard of Australia, leading the way in providing transport solutions to the dangerous goods and bulk liquids industry. 

Due to business growth, we have a rare opportunity to join our well established Health and Safety team. 

The role will be providing safety advice, coaching and support to our frontline workforce and assisting our leaders to coordinate and promote improved safety outcomes across multiple sites and branch locations.

The primary accountabilities for the role are:

• Ensuring that workforces are provided the opportunity to discuss Health and Safety challenges, successes, issues and opportunities.
• Actively promoting a positive Health and Safety culture across the business.
• Undertaking assurance activities and maintaining open communication with leadership team members (including recommendations) to ensure that risks are identified and controlled.
• Maintaining all safety documentation to ensure it is up to date at all times.
• Reviewing and establishing Safe Work Method Statements.
• Conducting inductions, training and participating in site toolbox meetings.
• Communicate safety procedures effectively with the team and subcontractors.
• Lead and document safety and incident investigations.

You will need the following to be successful:

• Qualification in Safety/HSE and/or experience in a related field preferred. 
• Understanding of legislation, HNVAS and all other requirements related to the transport industry.
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills with a proven ability to negotiate outcomes, engage and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and adapt to suit target audiences.
• Australian Citizenship, or full Australian working rights
• Able to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug & alcohol 

The successful applicant will fit in with the team environment. This is a full-time permanent position located in Pinkenba (Brisbane) QLD, with some infrequent travel to other locations on the eastern seaboard. Reporting directly to the National HSSE Manager.
