Health and Wellbeing Advisor
People and Culture

  • Fixed-term, full-time parental leave replacement from 25 March 2024 to 11 April 2025
  • Current UNE Staff: In taking up this appointment, please be aware your current fixed term or permanent role will cease the day prior to you taking this position
  • This appointment is offered on a replacement basis to carry out work whilst the incumbent is on parental leave. The incumbent has the right to return to their substantive position. Should this occur prior to the anticipated end of the secondment, your appointment will be terminated with 4 weeks notice.
  • $ 92,970 to $ 104,094 per annum (HE07)
  • Plus 17% employer superannuation
  • Salary packaging options are available
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus Christmas week shutdown, per annum
  • Available for flexible, hybrid work based at Armidale Campus
  • Applicants must have appropriate Australian work rights for the duration of this position (UNE will not provide sponsorship for this position)

About the role
The People and Culture Directorate currently has a rare opportunity for an experienced health professional to deliver holistic Health and Wellbeing solutions to the University staff community. The activities of the University are wide-ranging from agricultural work, construction, teaching, laboratory based tasks to digital learning and residential living. The position reports to the Senior Manager Health, Safety and Wellbeing and
  • provides hands on program management from conceptualisation to delivery of impactful Health and Wellbeing initiatives in collaboration with People and Culture and corporate stakeholders
  • has oversight of workers compensation policy performance and individual matters in partnership with UNE's providers of medical advice, rehabilitation, brokerage and insurance services.
  • undertakes regular analysis, monitoring and reporting of Health and Wellbeing information to provide recommendation regarding continuous improvement and compliance.

  • An engaging human centred approach from which to grow relationships with a range of stakeholders and contribute to cross-functional team success
  • Ability to interpret and translate contemporary evidence based health information and regulatory guidance into operational Health and Wellbeing programs
  • Relevant qualification and expertise gained through supporting workers with medically appropriate recovery in a workplace setting

The People and Culture Directorate is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that focus on enabling our people to create an engaging and high-performance work culture that delivers an outstanding higher education experience to our students.
The Directorate is focused on working in partnership with Faculties and Directorates to deliver strategies, quality services and projects through several primary human resource functions.

This position is a parental leave replacement and the appointment is subject to the staff member¿s leave arrangements. Should the staff member on parental leave vary their return to work arrangements, this contract may be terminated earlier by giving four weeks notice.
Current UNE Staff: In taking up this appointment, the appointee will need to seek approval from the Head of Cost Centre to be released from their substantive position for the duration of the secondment.
