We are looking for a compassionate and adaptable Counsellor to join our Counselling Service. Within a team and supported with regular supervision, you will be responsible for provision of a professional counselling service to clients and staff regarding a broad range of personal, work and psycho-social issues.
· You will have excellent communication skills and experience working in an environment that embraces diversity. You’ll be able to navigate complex situations, anticipate risk and plan accordingly.
· You will build credible, trusting relationships to achieve positive outcomes for all people we work with, and use your knowledge and experience to create opportunities that improve the lives of people from your community.
· You will have (or be prepared to obtain) a NSW Working with Children Check and National Criminal History Check.

About the role
Health and Wellbeing Plus provides an integrated professional service, supporting people to identify their personal and career goals, advocates recognition and respect for their diverse cultural backgrounds and individual needs. HWB+ will provide professional development and accredited training in trauma informed practice to achieve these outcomes. Being familiar with and understanding the role of counselling and meaningful employment in recovery is fundamental to the role.
In this role you will
- Assess the psychosocial and mental health conditions of presenting clients
- Provide individual and group counselling using a range of therapeutic skills consistent with currently accepted trauma informed, best practice
- Design and provide programs such as workshops and presentations.
Essential
· Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or other recognised qualification under the Health Professional Award, or a Graduate Diploma in a recognised discipline.
· Registration with a professional association (e.g. AHPRA, AASW, or ACA) as a counsellor, psychologist or social worker
· Ability to establish relationships with people of various backgrounds, cultures and ages
