Job Description
The MacIntyre Wind Farm Precinct will be ACCIONA’s biggest renewable energy facility and one of the largest onshore wind farms in the world. By greening Queensland's electricity mix, the MacIntyre wind complex will help the state meet its decarbonisation commitments and climate change mitigation strategies. The scale of the MacIntyre project makes it one of the largest onshore wind farms in the world today.
ACCIONA are seeking to engage a Safety Advisor for our Macintyre Windfarm project in QLD. The position can be either local to Warwick, QLD or drive in, drive out on a 10/4 roster. Reporting to the Senior Safety Advisor, this role is responsible for ensuring that operations are carried out safely and with consideration of environmental protection and ensuring that the project is aware of and complies with all legislation in relation to the use of its plant and equipment as well as workplace activities and that the project meets its statutory and industry obligations in respect to Industrial and safety matters at all times.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Co-ordinates Health and Safety activities on site including inspections and monitoring as required and directed
- Assists with training of personnel to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities and to improve their capabilities
- Resolves issues that may arise in respect of Health and Safety
- Records and assists in the investigation of accidents and dangerous occurrences
- Assists with audits of suppliers and subcontractors in the field to improve and maintain a heightened level of safety
- Ensure all workers have received a project specific induction that explains all hazards present on the project and the control measures to be followed before beginning working activities
- Promote and lead by example, the project commitment to a safety culture that will achieve an incident and injury free workplace
- Routinely engage workers at all levels in discussions aimed at gaining commitment to safe behaviour
- Adopt a zero tolerance to work practices and equipment that may be unsafe or have serious adverse Safety or environmental impact
- Becomes familiar with current knowledge of the latest plant, equipment, materials and construction techniques relevant to the project at hand including availability and costs
- Support General Foreman, Foreman and site workers to eliminate or minimize hazards
- Assist in the reporting, investigation and suggestion of corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of hazards, near miss incidents and work related illness/injury
- Report on health, safety and environmental matters to the Senior Safety Advisor
- As directed, support the Senior Safety Advisor with provision of ongoing safety training, awareness and information sessions to site personnel
Required Skills and Competencies
You will have completed a minimum of a Cert IV in WH&S with proven experience as a Safety Advisor on large scale construction projects. Having excellent communication skills and high attention to detail will be essential for success in this role.
