This is a fantastic opportunity to elevate and contemporise health, safety and wellbeing practices to support, protect and improve the health and safety of our people.Reporting to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager you will be focused on providing advice on and assisting with the implementation of health and safety governance and risk management strategies and systems that meet the needs of the Institute and the various regulatory frameworks.Some key aspects of the role include:
  • Conducting health and safety audits, worksite inspections, investigations and ensure that appropriate risk identification, assessment and control measures are in place.
  • Consulting with stakeholders to identify, assess, and implement compliant, efficient and practical control measures.
  • Developing and maintaining compliant, efficient and practical management systems that ensure a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Providing staff with sound operational advice, support and information to enable workplaces to develop and implement safe systems of work and in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Maintaining and updating Health, Safety & Wellbeing related information on our intranet and maintaining registers of health and safety compliance requirements.
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of proactive and sustainable Health and Wellbeing initiatives, including developing and delivering emergency management solutions.
  • Providing guidance on biological hazards, infection control principles, facilitate on-site vaccinations, health screening for staff and support for First Aiders.
Conveniently primarily based in our Nedlands office, this role will be offered on a full-time basis.About YouYou will be an experienced, energetic, engaging and credible health, safety and wellbeing professional who thrives under pressure whilst handling competing priorities with the ability to exercise a flexible approach to changing parameters.The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following:
  • A Tertiary qualification in a relevant or related field or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and high-level skills developed through a minimum of 5 years professional experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the WHS Legislation, Regulations and Codes of Practice.
  • Strong skills in hazard identification, risk management and incident investigation.
  • Proven experience in risk assessments, safety audits and safety investigations including sound in Workers Compensation.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Sound problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Well-developed conceptual, research and analytical skills that assist in resolving complex WHS issues and development of innovative policy and procedures, engaging with key stakeholders to identify options.
