Expressions of Interest
  • Influence the direction of our longest running program.
  • Highly respected not for profit organisation working in partnership with remote First Nations communities.
  • Fixed term contract to June 30, 2025.
About Red Dust

We are a well-established Australian not-for-profit organisation working in First Nations communities in the Northern Territory. We sit, walk and work alongside community leaders, elders, young people and families with a focus on improving health and wellbeing outcomes. We are a small but passionate team located between three locations (Alice Springs, Darwin & Melbourne) and we are looking for someone who shares our vision and can help us write the next chapter of growth for our organisation.

Our values guide everything we do and they shape our culture:
  • Real - We are hands on and work with integrity
  • Ready - We are prepared with the skills and knowledge to achieve our goals
  • Respectful - We develop sincere relationships and value the diversity of culture, people and places
The Healthy Living Program

Red Dust delivers high impact school-based health and wellbeing programs focused on relevant topics such as nutrition, physical activity, creativity and cultural strength and are co-designed with community.  Activities take place both in-class and after school and provide multiple points of entry and opportunities for local employment and leadership.

The role

You will be a key member of the Red Dust Programs Team coordinating the delivery of our school-based Healthy Living Program (HLP) with youth and families across First Nations communities in the Northern Territory. You will work closely with the HLP Manager and Regional Manager to ensure safe, high-quality programs are delivered in consultation with the communities we partner with. You will partner with your fellow Program Coordinators to ensure consistency across programs and regions.  It is a hands-on role requiring effective logistical management whilst also contributing to the ongoing improvement of the program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and organise the end-to-end delivery of HLP trips to our partner communities.
  • A key contributor to the development and implementation of program activities and resources for delivery into schools and the wider community for Indigenous students and families.
  • Working closely with program team leaders (external contractors) to ensure seamless trip preparation, delivery and post trip requirements are completed.
  • Oversee the onboarding process of program team members including volunteers for each trip.
  • Visit communities and build strong relationships with key stakeholders including community members, schools and community organisations.
  • In partnership with other coordinators and program management, plan and execute the annual program schedule for your region.
  • Ensure data is collected for every trip in line with Red Dust’s evaluation framework.
  • Ensure programs are delivered within budget.
What you’ll bring
  • Experience developing and delivering program activities for a youth audience, preferably within an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander setting.
  • Strong project coordination skills demonstrating planning, process, and execution.
  • A good understanding of program design, frameworks, evaluation and data collection processes.
  • Highly organised and a pro at managing your time.
  • You are comfortable with managing competing priorities.
  • You are a people person; you can relate to varying audiences.
  • Ability to flex and adapt in a dynamic environment – you are comfortable getting your hands dirty.
  • An Ochre Card (NT Working With Children Check) or ability to obtain one.
  • Preferable but not essential, you will be tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline or have a background working or studying in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander space or the health sector.

Travel requirements: 10-15% of your time traveling primarily in the Northern Territory.

What’s on offer:
  • A competitive salary.
  • NFP salary packaging benefits
  • Flexible working conditions.
  • A fun and rewarding environment with an organisation making a difference in Aboriginal health and well-being.
