We are currently seeking physically fit candidate with a keen attention to detail to fill the position of Heavy Diesel Mechanic for our client based in Perth, Australia. As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components in a variety of heavy machinery including trucks, buses, construction equipment, and agricultural machinery.Your responsibilities will include conducting diagnostic tests on heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles to identify faults, analyzing test results, and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking, or lighting system components.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong organizational skills and excellent communication abilities, as they will be required to maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles and interact with customers on a daily basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzing diagnostic test results to determine the root cause of vehicle problems.
- Installing and replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Inspecting and testing vehicle lighting systems to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Conducting test drives to evaluate the overall performance and functionality of vehicles.
- Performing routine maintenance on service trucks to prevent breakdowns and ensure reliability.
- Keeping detailed records of all serviced vehicles for future reference and tracking.
- Following a comprehensive inspection procedure checklist to maintain quality standards.
- Managing and organizing a parts inventory to ensure availability for repairs and replacements.
- Maintaining a clean and organized shop environment to promote efficiency and safety.
- With at least three (3) years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic – preferably experience in heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles.
- Degree or diploma in mechanical or automotive engineering.
- ASE Diesel Certification is an advantage.
- Valid driver's license.
- Aptitude for mathematics and science.
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
- Good IT and diagnostic skills.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 150 pounds.
- Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
- Attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
