About the role:
Ventia is one of the largest providers of Defence Maintenance Support Services across Australia. We have over 20 years' experience delivering support to ADF.
Ventia is looking for a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our Defence Maintenance Support Services team. Based at Moorebank NSW in our state-of-the-art facility, with the latest equipment, you will work across a range of heavy military vehicles, including 4WD's, armoured tanks, trucks, tracked vehicles, and infantry personnel carriers. The hourly pay rate is $49.55 per hour (combination of a strong base rate + economic retention allowance)
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance. As a result of this requirement the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.

What you will be doing:
- Scheduled and unplanned maintenance tasks including inspection, preventative servicing, fault diagnostics, plus a wide range of repairs on light, medium and heavy military vehicles, plant and support equipment, ranging from light box trailers all the way up to jet-turbine ABRAMS Main Battle Tanks
- Routine condition inspections/reports (aka 'roadworthy' inspections), modifications and upgrades on a wide range of military vehicles like armoured 4WD's, trucks, tracked and other heavy armoured vehicles, infantry personnel carriers etc.
- Replacing or repairing damaged/malfunctioning parts following inspection. And performing work of a technical nature, on a wide range of military equipment
- Successful applicants will adhere to all regulatory and contract specific requirements, as directed by Technical Supervisors
About you:
- Certificate III or equivalent trade qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic OR Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology
- Demonstrated experience working unsupervised on Heavy commercial vehicles (essential)
- Current Australian HR Driver's Licence (essential)
- Demonstrated ability and practical experience to inspect, repair and maintain Light, Medium and/or Heavy vehicle to a medium level of repair (desirable)
- Refrigerant handling licence (desirable)
About the contract
Ventia is the Australian Defence Force (ADF) industry partner for the repair and maintenance of Army materiel including artillery, small arms, instrument repair, night vision equipment and all armoured vehicles and variants. We currently deliver approximately 900,000 maintenance hours annually and operate a 24/7 nationwide vehicle and equipment recovery service. As part of our contract with the ADF, Ventia provide materiel maintenance support of land-based equipment for Joint Logistics Unit (JLU). We operate in every Australian State and Territory with a 3,000-strong workforce consisting of passionate civilians and Defence Veterans.
