This growth has opened up an opportunity to recruit a suitably qualified Trailer Mechanic to service, inspect and repair trailer bodies for our fleet at our Devon Meadows depot on Night Shift.
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring the trailers are maintained to a high operational standard
- Trailer repairs and maintenance are undertaken in a safe, timely and competent manner such as for example; diagnose and repair trailer components
- Performing preventative maintenance on trailer equipment including routine technical repairs such as;
- air spring suspension (air bag, booster repairs, wheel bearing replacements, brake re-aligning, rotor replacements, stud replacements, lift up axle maintenance etc.)
- tarp repairs (tarp and bow replacements, cable replacements, bearing replacements, tarp motor swap outs)
- electrical (clearance lights swap outs, indicator swap outs, electrical shorts etc.)
- Maintaining a daily record of all work tasks and materials per job
- Ensuring proper documentation is complete, including permits, repair orders, filing etc.
- Working in a safe manner consistent with the Company's policy and OH&S legislation
- Observing and complying with all health & safety policies and procedures, including all safe operating procedures and instructions
What else?
- Minimum certificate 3 mechanical trade certificate/qualification
- Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and repair of trailers (for Heavy Vehicles)
- Experience with Diesel motors highly desirable
- Experience in Mild Steel MIG welding is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Basic computer literacy – Ability to access and use computer and other required software programs
- Relevant current Driver's Licence Endorsed for driving of truck (HC) & B-Double (MC) Licence for operating B-double tippers (if required to move the trucks) would be highly regarded
- Must have good communication, interpersonal and customer service skills to service a diverse client group
- Good time management skills and attention to detail
- Good level of literacy and numeracy
