The Role
Enhance your career as a  Diesel Mechanic  in the cutting-edge world of underground mining by joining our team at Peak Mine in Cobar, NSW. As a skilled Heavy Vehicle Tradesperson, you’ll play an essential role in keeping our mobile mining fleet at peak performance. Working closely with our Mobile Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll have the opportunity to leverage your mechanical maintenance skills, PRONTO data entry abilities, and proactive problem-solving talents in a fast-paced underground mining setting.
 
Roster Flexibility:
Choose between a balanced 7/7 or an immersive 14/14 day and night rotating roster, designed to harmonize work with your personal life.
 
Travel Options

• FIFO: Seamless direct charter flights available from Brisbane, with convenient options from Melbourne and Sydney.
• DIDO: For those in the Local region, an additional travel allowance is provided.  T&C's apply
• Enjoy accommodation provided during your shift to ensure rest and recuperation

 
  Key Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostics and repairs for Heavy Vehicles during breakdowns, ensuring minimum downtime
• Perform comprehensive site inspections and routine servicing for mobile plant machinery, maintaining operational excellence
• Utilize your welding and fabrication skills to perform repairs, contributing to the safety and efficiency of our operations
• Hold an A/C license to carry out specialized service and repairs, enhancing our fleet's performance
• Proactively requisition parts and manage the tagging of items for repair or maintenance, ensuring a seamless workflow
• Engage in daily shift meetings, contribute to safety discussions, and document essential information, fostering a culture of open communication and risk awareness.
• Adhere to and understand workshop procedures, promoting a safe and efficient working environment.

 
About you 

• Trade Certificate - Heavy Diesel fitter
• At least 2 years relevant experience as a tradesperson with a preference on underground mining
• Demonstrated experience with underground mobile plant equipment (Sandvik Jumbos, Caterpillar Loaders and ITs, Epiroc Underground Haul Trucks, 
  Volvo Graders & IT's, Agi Trucks & Spray Rigs, Normet Shotcreter)
• Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Ability to monitor and maintain mobile equipment costs
• Demonstrated ability to ensure safety of maintenance personnel associated with mobile equipment maintenance
• Pronto experience (desired)
