About the Program

HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) is an early childhood enrichment and parenting program for children and their parents/carers designed to make children ‘school ready’ and develop a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

About the Opportunity

As the Hippy Family Mentor, you will provide support to parents to learn new skills and build confidence as their child’s first teacher. You will work with parents to create an interest in their children’s learning, promoting cognitive and social development and enhance school readiness.

You will promote family engagement with education and the community and implement the delivery of the HIPPY program in a culturally sensitive way that supports active participation.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Interest and enthusiasm in supporting families to promote education through activities within their family unit.
  • Ability to relate to people from a range of cultural and language backgrounds from within the local community.
  • Basic literacy in English including reading, writing and numeracy.
  • Prior experience or, at a minimum, demonstrated commitment to working respectfully with Indigenous and culturally and linguistically diverse clients, communities, staff, and Aboriginal controlled organisations.

For further information on this exciting opportunity, please contact Heather Dingle on (08) 8963 6***.

Applications are assessed on a rolling basis, so speed is key. The sooner you apply the better!

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a current Northern Territory driver’s licence.

Unfortunately, we aren't in a position to sponsor candidate visas. If you don't have the independent right to work in the country you're applying for, we will not be able to progress your application.

As part of the recruitment process, you may be required to address the key selection criteria on the online application on the Anglicare NT website.

Experience of working closely with and having a strong understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture would be considered an advantage.

Anglicare NT is a Child Safe, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer and strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.
