Home and Garden Worker

Mersey Community Care Association (MCCA) is a leader in delivering aged and disability services across the North West Coast of Tasmania and we are currently looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and reliable worker to join our Home Maintenance Team. 

Our mission is to provide Home and yard maintenance and repairs that mitigate or remove identified risks to a client’s health and safety and/or provide services targeted at maintaining a home environment which supports a client’s wellness and reablement goals.

Experience in Home and Garden maintenance is not essential but preferred.

Duties:

• Convert gardens to low maintenance garden redesign
• Yard maintenance – essential pruning, yard clearance or lawn mowing, particularly where there are issues for client safety and access
• Maintain external access pathways to address slip and trip hazards
• Secure access issues for clients’ personal safety
• Cleaning gutters, windows, ceilings, and walls
• Instillation of smoke alarm batteries, smoke alarms (where applicable)
• Replace tap washers and light globes
• Rubbish removal 

Selection Criteria:

• Passion for working with aged people and younger persons with a disability
• Appropriate level of physical fitness
• Excellent organisational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and efficiently within a team environment
• Good knowledge of the Devonport, Latrobe, Kentish, and Central Coast municipalities
• Current Tasmanian Drivers Licence
• Schedule 1 National Police Certificate
• Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card (NDIS endorsed)
