Why this role matters
The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person-centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support all cohorts in case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

About the role
We are seeking a passionate, relationship driven Homelessness Support Worker to join us on a maximum term, part-time basis, to provide assistance to clients, participants, residents to support them to achieve set outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Support and manage waitlist portfolio, offering crisis management and early intervention where required
  • Work to the direction of case management plans in assisting clients to attend appointments relating to health, housing, finances, education, justice, and social inclusion as required
  • Assist residents with a range of activities in preparing for independent living: meals preparation; life and living skills; health and hygiene; recreation and exercise
  • Accurately, keep up to date with client records and data maintained to TSA standards
  • Respond to and manage critical incidents and emergencies as relevant

Qualifications and experience

  • A qualification in Community Services or similar with demonstrated previous experience working in a similar crisis support setting
  • An understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness
  • Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision required
  • SA Working with Children check
  • A current SA driver's Licence
  • Proof of eligibility to work in Australia
