About the Role
Love Science? Inquisitive? Passionate about taking your audiences on unexpected journeys through all things science? This is an amazing opportunity to explore a myriad of science stories, where you will be producing quality, compelling audio content for a range of ABC science podcasts and programs. You will use your skills in recording, editing and sound design creativity to engage and inform an audience. The role will involve:
- Researching, producing and presenting very complex audio content for science unit podcasts and programs
- Pitching and developing story and program ideas.
- Engaging with talent
- Recording and editing sound using a variety of equipment.
- Developing and fostering a range of specialist contacts and information sources in the science, health, medicine and technology fields.
About You
You have experience performing the key tasks necessary in the production of Science & Health programs and online content, including substantial skills in research, script writing, audio editing, online publishing, and interviewing. Your skills and experience will also include:
- Considerable independent editorial judgement, strong journalistic awareness and a creative approach to storytelling.
- Interest or experience in specialist science journalism or communication.
- High level understanding of digital audio production workflows, formats and distribution.
- High level understanding of audience analytics and metrics and their influence on content direction.
- Collaborative workstyle with ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
